Paris, 12 August 2023 (dpa/MIA) - The bomb threat that prompted the evacuation on Saturday of about 4,000 visitors to the Eiffel Tower in Paris turned out to be a false alarm and the all-clear has been given, dpa has learned from sources.

The district council of the seventh arrondissement of Paris wrote on the online platform X, formerly known as Twitter, that the tower was once again open to visitors.

The more than 130-year-old tower near the Seine is visited by some 7 million people every year.

The iconic monument, also called la dame de fer (iron lady) was built for the Paris World's Fair and completed in 1889.
