Skopje, 1 August 2025 (MIA) - Police officers detained late Thursday two Kosovo nationals, aged 18 and 24, under the suspicion of migrant smuggling, and found eight migrants from China in their vehicle.

The vehicle driver did not stop at the police signal at the motorway near Skopje and drove off, damaging another vehicle, a motorcycle and a tollgate in the process. Later, he skidded off the road on the Skopje ring road and attempted to escape but was detained, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.

The two susdects were taken to a police station, while the migrants have been transferred to a reception and transit center.

Investigation in the case is underway.
