PM Zaev reiterates he’ll decide on minister’s resignation after investigation into Tetovo hospital fire
Skopje, 13 September 2021 (MIA) – Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said Monday he will take into consideration the report of forensics stemming from the investigation into the Tetovo hospital fire when deciding whether to accept the resignation of Health Minister Venko Filipche.
Minister Filipche after last week’s fire in a Tetovo modular hospital, which killed 14 people, sent a resignation letter to PM Zaev.
“It will be decisive in me finally reaching a decision as I have already said in a press release on Saturday,” Zaev said adding there are no findings yet from the investigation.
Speaking to reporters after delivering opening remarks at the Macedonian Energy Forum (MEF) 2021, the PM called the hospital fire “a great tragedy”.
“It is a great loss for the whole nation, the families [of the victims] are inconsolable. I’m also heartbroken, I’m an ordinary man, I too have feelings,” Zaev said.
“I have no information about the investigation, what I know is that Interior Ministry forensics are working alongside local experts and those who have arrived from Germany. To me, it’s important that there’s swift investigation, because it is what the citizens want as well as the government and that the investigation of experts provides all the answers,” the PM stressed.
