PM says elections in 2024, thanks Mickoski for confidence in Government’s excellent crisis management

Bitola, 12 January 2023 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said Thursday early elections will not happen but take place in the regular slot in 2024.

PM Kovachevski said it was a compliment that VMO-DPMNE wanted elections in May, which showed that the Government has efficiently managed the energy crisis that is set to end on April 30.

“Mickoski has tabled the request for early elections for the umpteenth time. I have a very clear position that I don’t change every week – elections will take place in the regular slot in 2024 – because we are facing an economic and energy crisis. The screening process is held in parallel and the country is currently chairing OSCE. We will certainly not interrupt these processes in order to satisfy Mickoski’s wishes. SDSM and its coalition partners will win the 2024 elections, as will the presidential candidate they nominate. The fact that Mickoski wants elections in May is a compliment for the Government, showing that the executive is doing an excellent job in managing the economic and energy crisis that is set to end on April 30. I can only thank him for the confidence in our proper management of the crisis,” Kovachevski told reporters.
