PM hopes for government formation in Bulgaria and solution to unblock EU path

Skopje, 28 October 2024 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski expressed hope Monday that a government would be formed in Sofia so that a solution is found to unblock Skopje's EU path.
"I expect a government consisted of at least three partners. Numbers vary, with the GERB-SDS coalition between 67-70 MPs and the PP-DB coalition between 44-47 lawmakers, meaning that a government cannot be formed without these two blocs. We'll see how things develop. I hope a government will be formed, one that we can sit down with and find a solution in order to unblock Macedonia's EU path," Mickoski told reporters.
Over the weekend, the PM said he could not say who would be a better option, adding it was logical that he wanted Boyko Borissov's party to win as both are part of the European People's Party.
"I cannot not say who would be a better interlocutor, but I can say that with the GERB party, which is led by Boyko Borissov, we are in the same family in the European People's Party, and it is logical to want a political party that comes from our family to win the elections," Mickoski said.
