Philharmonic to give 'Fanfare for a Friend' concert with Selina Ott on trumpet

Skopje, 27 February 2025 (MIA) — The Philharmonic will give a concert of works by Tomasi, Haydn and Brahms conducted by Israeli-Argentine conductor Yeruham Scharovsky and featuring Austrian trumpeter Selina Ott as soloist.
Titled "Fanfare for a Friend," the concert will open with Henri Tomasi's Trumpet Concerto.
The concert program also lists the Trumpet Concerto in E flat Major, Hob.VIIe:1 by Joseph Haydn and the Symphony No. 2 in D Major, op. 73 by Johannes Brahms.
Selina Ott is the first woman ever in the 70-year history of the ARD International Music Competition to have been awarded the first prize in the category trumpet at the age of only 20 in September 2018.
She was also given the Opus Klassik Award 2021 for her debut album „Trumpet Concertos“ (2020, Orfeo) together with the Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna and conductor Roberto Paternostro.
Ott has released several albums under the Orfeo music label and performed with leading orchestras such as the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony, Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège, Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra.
In 2022, she completed her Master of Arts studies with distinction at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna. She was awarded with the honorary prize of the Federal Ministry Republic of Austria for Education, Science and Research.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Yeruham Scharovsky received his early musical education studying flute, double bass, composition and conducting with teachers from the Buenos Aires National Conservatory of Music and Teatro Colon Opera House.
During the early 70’s, he emigrated to Israel, where he graduated from the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem.
He is currently the chief conductor of the Macedonian Philharmonic. Previously, he was the artistic director and chief conductor of the Israeli Ra’anana Symphonette Orchestra and of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra of Rio de Janeiro.
Scharovsky has conducted more than 50 well known orchestras in over 20 different countries, including the Israel Philharmonic, Berliner Symphoniker, Moscow Philharmonic, Finnish National Opera, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Riga Philharmonic, Marseille Philharmonic, Avignon Symphony, Budapest Dohnányi Symphony, Roma Symphony, San Remo Symphony, Poznan Philharmonic, Quebec Philharmonic, Colombia Philharmonic and National Symphony, and many others. mr/
