Petrovska: Alliance fully united in deterrence, defense of entire NATO territory
Skopje, 13 October 2022 (MIA) – NATO is a defense alliance that is resolutely determined and united in its basic objective – deterring all potential hostile activities and defending every inch of NATO’s territory, concluded the first session of the ministers of defense of the allied countries, held within the framework of the meetings of the North Atlantic Council, the Ministry of Defense said in a press release.   Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska told Thursday’s session that North Macedonia remains committed in its contribution to the common goals of the allies, for which it continuously invests in the development of its capacities and the modernization and equipping of the Army.   “The decision at the Madrid Summit set the path we will follow. What we must do now is to quickly and efficiently fulfill our obligations and invest in the development of the capacities we need,” Minister Petrovska said.   Speaking at the second session of the North Atlantic Council, which was also attended by Josep Borrell, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and dedicated to missions and operations, Petrovska pointed out that North Macedonia is committed to strengthening regional security through participation in NATO’s KFOR mission in Kosovo and the EU ALTHEA mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.   Petrovska highlighted that it is necessary to speed up the European integration process based on criteria fulfilled and results achieved. She added that the start of EU accession negotiations for North Macedonia and Albania is a good sign and contributes to the stability and development of the Western Balkans. The Minister also welcomed the granting of candidate status to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday, reads the press release.
