Skopje, 25 November 2022 (MIA) – North Macedonia and Greece have built an intensive defense cooperation as allies, Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska and the new Greek Ambassador, Sophia Philippidou, concluded at a meeting Friday.
During the meeting, the comprehensiveness of the two countries’ defense cooperation was noted, which has been boosted after the signing of the 2019 cooperation agreement.
“The defense cooperation between North Macedonia and Greece reflects our joint commitment as allies to a peaceful, safe and stable region and a secure Euro-Atlantic area,” it was concluded.
Minister Petrovska highlighted the importance of unity of the allies in condemning the Russian aggression on Ukraine and their determination to guarantee the security of member countries.
Ambassador Philippidou said Greece is committed to the development of defense cooperation with North Macedonia adding it is one of the areas with highest intensity in the countries’ overall cooperation.
Both Petrovska and Philippidou praised the high level of implementation of this year’s bilateral cooperation plan, which includes 42 activities, high-level meetings, training of the special forces, NATO standardization training, joint training at Krivolak, etc., said the press release.
