Petkov hands over E-Registry for People with Diabetes project to Kovachevski as Bulgarian donation
Skopje, 18 January 2022 (MIA) – Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, who is visiting North Macedonia on Tuesday, presented the E-Registry for People with Diabetes project to Macedonian Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski as a donation from the Republic of Bulgaria. dDnevnik, an app that has been developed based on the project, will facilitate the life of diabetics and anable doctors to have a detailed insight into analyses of patients’ measured values, according to General Manager of ScaleFocus, Sofche Jovanovska. “A team of ScaleFocus developed this app during the implementation of the project in consultation with doctors, subspecialists, as well as the Association of Diabetics. This app enables patients to record measured values on their mobile phones via a very simple mobile app, without having to do all that by writing down on paper as they did so far. The app makes it possible to compare obtained analyses for a certain period of time with doctors, family physicians, endocrinologists, as well as close family members looking after the health of these patients,” Jovanovska said. She added that the app uses different colors to indicate different levels of blood sugar, whereby a risk value gets marked in red and the app automatically sends a notification to doctors or family members of a value that might require immediate reaction. In addition, Jovanovska noted, patients themselves set notifications on when to measure their blood sugar levels, and analyses can be shared with their doctors. Jovanovska pointed out that latest technological trends have been used in the development of the app in order to ensure data safety. Bulgarian PM Petkov said diabetes was a very familiar topic to him as his second daughter had type 1 diabetes, adding that monitoring blood sugar levels in the right way makes a real difference in terms of a problem-free quality life when it comes to this disease. “Innovations such as this one enable people with diabetes to have a normal life. I’m glad that this type of cooperation between innovative companies can show that cooperation between North Macedonia and Bulgaria can lead to competitive products for the world market,” Petkov said. Health Minister Bekim Sali also attended the promotion of the project. Talks ahead of the event focused on the importance of implementing projects to improve the situation in the area of health, said the Ministry of Health.
