Skopje, 30 August 2023 (MIA) – With the payment of the pensions for August, the regular payment of pensions is returning, replacing the early payment of pensions which was introduced due to the pandemic and the Covid-19 protective measures, said the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy on Wednesday.

“Due to the end of the pandemic, the corporate banks, through the Macedonian Banking Association (MBA) are ending the current practice of early payment of pensions. Consequently, the pensions will be paid out on the first of the month, directly from the state budget,” said the Ministry.

The Ministry reminded that during the pandemic, in cooperation with the corporate banks, the payment of pensions was done early and in stages, as part of the Covid-19 protective measures aimed at reducing crowds in front of the banks thereby preventing the spread of the virus among pensioners as the most vulnerable age group.
