Pendarovski: Young people are the core of every progressive social change 
Skopje, 12 August 2022 (MIA) - Actress Izabela Jakimova, in individual category, One Can Youth, in the category of youth informal groups, and Go Green Association, in the category of youth organizations, are this year's recipients of the Youth Participation Award, handed out Friday to mark International Youth Day. The award, presented by the Youth and Sports Agency in cooperation with the National Youth Council of Macedonia, aims to recognize and value the efforts of young people in their commitment to addressing social issues. The Go Green eco-activists are recognized for their efforts to transform their municipalities in green municipalities. One Can Youth activists are awarded for their commitment to raising awareness about the rights of single parent families. The actress Jakimova, who graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Skopje last year, is awarded for her activism in her works, including her latest play dedicated to the fight against stigmatization of HIV patients and their loved ones. Image preview Presenting the award at a event at the President's residence, President Stevo Pendarovski said the awarded young people are part of a generation that is giving us hope. "As long as young people want to fight social injustices, there is hope for the Macedonian society. Through their vision and concrete activities, they have shown us what North Macedonia might become only if we listened to the voice of young people," he stated. The President added that their endeavors are a way to encourage all generations to contribute to transforming the country into a better place for living where all citizens have an equal chance to fulfill their potentials. Youth Participation Awards are presented in three categories, including individual category (young people aged 15-29), category for informal youth groups consisting of at least three members, and the youth organizations category. The prizes are monetary - 1,500 euros for the single award and 3,000 euros for the category for organizations.
