Skopje, 23 October 2023 (MIA) - President Stevo Pendarovski congratulated citizens on the occasion of October 23 – Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle, pointing out that just like 130 years ago, today, we must overcome divisions and unite around a common goal – a democratic and functional rule of law with equal opportunities for a dignified life and progress for each of its citizens. 

"On this day, exactly 130 years ago, six young people founded the Macedonian revolutionary organization that managed to unite the bravest and most educated people of their time around a common goal – a free Macedonian state. This young and progressive generation managed to strengthen the faith of the Macedonian people that only with their own strength they can fight for freedom and justice," Pendarovski says. 

Although due to neighboring propaganda, pressures and aspirations, our revolutionary struggle had both successes and failures, the goal remained the same, the President points out. The Ilinden uprising gave the Krushevo Republic, while the National Liberation and Anti-Fascist Struggle – the state-building ASNOM.

"As the struggle of the revolutionary generation was for a free and just state, so our struggle today must be against corruption, nepotism and crime that result in mistrust, social injustice and mass exodus of young people. Just like 130 years ago, today, we must overcome our divisions and unite around a common goal – a democratic and functional rule of law with equal opportunities for a dignified life and progress for each of its citizens," Pendarovski says congratulating October 23 – Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle.
