Pendarovski receives PACE observer delegation 

Skopje, 27 March 2024 (MIA) - President Stevo Pendarovski received Wednesday the cross-party Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) observer delegation, which is making a pre-electoral visit to North Macedonia to assess the election campaign and political climate prior to the presidential and parliamentary elections in the country on 24 April and 8 May.

Interlocutors discussed the course of preparations for the presidential and parliamentary elections in North Macedonia, the President's Office said in a press release.

"The PACE delegation briefed about the goals of their pre-electoral visit, activities, expectation and role in the election process. Meeting participants stressed that the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections will be fair, democratic and peaceful, in total alignment with the national legislation and international obligations and standards," the press release reads.

President Pendarovski said that as a NATO member and a country aspiring to become an EU member, it is necessary to demonstrate the professionalism of state institutions and the political correctness and maturity of all political stakeholders involved in the electoral process. ssh/sk/
