Skopje, 21 June 2022 (MIA) – People should not fear, the negotiating framework cannot be approved unless we say ‘yes’. No negotiations have taken place by force, says President Stevo Pendarovski. Speaking on the proposal of the French EU Presidency, President Pendarovski told TV24 that authorities have not received any document as yet. “I don’t know, Bulgarians have probably received it because they are EU members. What the French have composed as a proposal has been delivered to the Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER). The session on the proposal began on Monday at 7 p.m. Situation in Bulgaria has been chaotic these days and they again presented absolutely hazy demands yesterday. A session of the Bulgarian parliamentary committee on foreign affairs has been scheduled but it is uncertain if it will take place. According to our information, PM Petkov will want a vote for his government first and then put this document on the session’s agenda,” says Pendarovski. Our starting point, the President adds, is that we would not like to see any asterisk or additional explanation for the Macedonian language. “According to one of the drafts from a few weeks ago, proposed by the French through phone communication, says no asterisk on the language and one formulation. It says, the entire European Acquis will be translated in Macedonian language. Full stop,” says Pendarovski. According to him, there is no better guarantee than this in the negotiating framework.
