Skopje, 30 April 2024 (MIA) - SDSM presidential candidate Stevo Pendarovski said that with the current attitude of the opposition, or if it possibly comes to power, the country will not join the European Union until 2050.  

In Tuesday's televised debate with VMRO-DPMNE backed opponent Gordana Siljanovska Davkova on TV21, Pendarovski said the European Commission has also detected other weaknesses, but the country must overcome the issue with the constitutional amendments. 

"At this point, we only need to overcome this problem, with the constitutional changes. We've been bidding in vain for years, we can't make it if we don't overcome this. With this opposition and with the future opposition or government, which supports the opponent, we cannot make it until the end of the century," said Pendarovski. 

The incumbent President pointed out that the conditions for forming a government are set by whoever wins the elections. According to him, it is not good to set conditions before the elections are over.

"I don't know why then the lady says that they are sure winners, she knows the result that they will win both the presidential and parliamentary elections even before they are held, and the conditions before the elections are held are set by her leader Mickoski, who says "vote for our candidate if you want to join the government"," said Pendarovski.
