Skopje, 24 September 2021 (MIA) – President Stevo Pendarovski met Friday with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier during his working visit to New York for the 76^th UN General Assembly. “The two heads of state shared views and information on current developments in their countries. President Steinmeier expressed deepest condolences over the deadly tragedy in the Tetovo modular hospital,” Pendarovski’s office said. President Pendarovski thanked his German counterpart for his personal efforts and engagement as well as for Germany’s support to North Macedonia’s EU integration. “President Pendarovski said that building of friendly relations with Germany, based on sincere and credible approach, is of great importance for North Macedonia. In this context, the two presidents shared views and information related to the latest developments involving our European integration. They concluded that the opening of EU negotiations with North Macedonia will positively affect the overall social and political climate here and will further stabilize the region to prosper,” the office said. Pendarovski and Steinmeier also discussed latest developments in the Western Balkans, said the press release.
