Pendarovski and Peach discuss developments in region
Skopje, 17 June 2022 (MIA) – President Stevo Pendarovski met with Sir Stuart Peach, Special Envoy of the United Kingdom for the Western Balkans, in Ohrid on Friday. The two discussed the current situation in the region in light of Sir Peach’s activities as the UK’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans. “In that context, President Pendarovski stressed the United Kingdom’s commitment to maintaining prosperity and security in the region. The United Kingdom, said President Pendarovski, is a proven friend of North Macedonia and a strong supporter in meeting its strategic goals and expressed hope for continued support for strengthening stability, democracy, the rule of law and tackling crime and corruption,” the President’s office said in a press release. In terms of the Macedonian aspirations for membership in the European Union, President Pendarovski said the unblocking of the process and the opening of accession negotiations with North Macedonia will have a positive impact on the stability of the region. In addition, President Pendarovski and Special Envoy Peach exchanged views and information on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as well as the actions of the two countries within the NATO Alliance on this issue.
