Parties make pledges halfway into local election campaign
Skopje, 6 October 2021 (MIA) – Halfway through the 2021 local election campaign, the ruling coalition SDSM on Tuesday promoted a plan envisaging that as of January 2022, the state would cover salary contributions for everyone under 29 who was employed for the first time, announcing additional incentives for new employees. “For those who are not yet ready to enter the workforce because they haven’t developed their skills yet, the state will cover the companies’ costs of giving you internships,” SDSM leader Zoran Zaev told SDSM supporters at a rally in Skopje’s Aerodrom where the party’s mayoral candidate Aleksandar Filipovski was presented. The coalition also held rallies with citizens in the municipalities of Gazi Baba, Chair, Petrovec, and Ilinden, in the capital Skopje, earlier in the day. At a meeting of the VMRO-DPMNE-led coalition in Skopje’s Center Municipality on Tuesday, Aleksandar Nikolovski, vice president of the largest opposition party, said VMRO-DPMNE after this year’s local elections plans on negotiating the formation of a new ruling majority in Parliament. Trajko Slaveski of VMRO-DPMNE called the October elections “a fight of two concepts – a concept of destruction on one hand and a concept of change, projects and victory on the other.” The coalition led by VMRO-DPMNE organized rallies throughout Skopje, including  Butel and Chair. On Wednesday, SDSM will hold rallies in Sveti Nikole, Probishtip and Resen. The coalition led by VMRO-DPMNE will hold events in Petrovec, Ilinden, Zelenikovo and Gjorche Petrov election campaign. The “Determined for Change” movement, helmed by LDP and DOM will organize election activities in Sveti Nikole and Shtip. Levica leader Dimitar Apasiev will open new offices and promote the party’s candidates for municipal councilors Also, in Kumanovo, Besa movement is set to hold election activities.
