Parliamentary delegation to take part in PACE session

Skopje, 22 January 2024 (MIA) — А delegation of Parliament will take part in the first part of the winter plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe held Jan. 22–26, in Strasbourg, France. The delegation is led by MP Darko Kaevski, and its members include MPs Arta Bilalli-Zendeli and Aleksandar Nikoloski.
The week-long plenary session will focus on issues of human rights and democracy.
According to Parliament in a press release, the PACE will elect its new President as well as a Commissioner for Human Rights.
Debates will be led on recent developments in the Middle East: Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel and Israel's response as well as allegations of systematic torture in detention facilities in Europe, the release says.
"Also, a request has been submitted for a debate under an urgent procedure on the situation of Ukrainian children, at an online intervention of the first lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska," the release adds.
Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović and Prime Minister of Liechtenstein Daniel Risch will address the assembly.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Education and Sport of Liechtenstein and President of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe Dominique Hasler and Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović-Burić will give remarks and answer questions. mr/
