Parliament passes SDSM-DUI conclusions on French proposal
Skopje, 16 July 2022 (MIA) - Parliament on Saturday with 68 votes in favor passed the draft conclusions submitted by SDSM and DUI after a debate in the negotiating framework for the accession negotiations with the EU, proposed by the French EU presidency in late June, came to an end.
The conclusions provide the government with directions on what it can negotiate during the process with the European Union.
The conclusions demand unconditional respect of the linguistic, identity, cultural and historical characteristics of the Macedonian people.
The government is tasked with making sure the Macedonian language in the negotiating framework is mentioned without any footnotes during the negotiations and with refusing to discuss any solution about the language other than what is written in the negotiating framework.
VMRO-DPMNE and Levica MPs were not present during the vote.
Earlier, EU Ambassador David Geer arrived in the assembly to attend the session.
