Paramilitary group RSF agrees again to ceasefire in fighting in Sudan

Paramilitary group RSF agrees again to ceasefire in fighting in Sudan

The paramilitary group battling the Sudanese armed forces agreed again on Wednesday to a 24-hour ceasefire.

The ceasefire should be in place from early Wednesday evening (1600 GMT), the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) said on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon. "We confirm our full commitment to a full ceasefire," the group added.

A confirmation of the ceasefire by the Sudanese military initially failed to materialize.

International mediators have been trying for days to get the parties to the conflict to agree to a ceasefire in order to create humanitarian corridors.

Promised ceasefires have already been broken several times.
