Skopje, 12 July 2022 (MIA) – Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani spoke Tuesday over the phone with Czech counterpart Jan Lipavsky, who expressed support to North Macedonia’s progress in the European integration process.
Osmani assured Lipavsky that EU membership is North Macedonia’s top foreign policy priority, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.
Interlocutors exchanged opinions on the need for dynamic realization of the European perspective of countries in the Western Balkans, for the purpose of ensuring stability, resilience and development of the area amid the current unpredictable geopolitical context.
Lipavsky stressed the Czech Republic’s readiness to swiftly organize the first Intergovernmental Conference after North Macedonia approves the European proposal.
The two FMs reiterated the key aspects of the compromise proposal, which brings the country closer to the EU while considering North Macedonia’s interests: clear formulation of the Macedonian language, leaving historical issues out of the negotiating framework and immediate start of the accession negotiations, reads the press release.
