Osmani: MKarta holders will not be privileged
Skopje, 4 January 2023 (MIA) – MKarta (MKcard) holders will not have diplomatic privilege. The only symbolic message is that their entrance to the country will be easier, so they can get involved in the development, Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani said in response to a reporter’s question at Wednesday’s press briefing.
The Minister pointed out that the embassies identify the people and suggest them to the Ministry.
“This is simply evidence that these people are part of our network of successful people in the diaspora, people who accepted to be MKarta holders with no privileges,” Osmani said, adding that these are exceptional people from various sectors who can function towards the country’s development.
According to Osmani, the idea is to make a network of the people they are in constant contact with and convene them once a year at conferences and seminars, for them to be involved in various working groups throughout the year in the country.
“I promised certain symbolic measures, more as a sign of respect than as anything of substantial meaning. MKarta holders can enter museums for free. The symbolism comes from our honoring of their engagement to our country, and within that package, we’ve asked for existing fast tracks to be put into use for diplomatic passport holders, and we’ve asked the MoI to use these cards,” Osmani said. dk/nn/
