Osmani and Rau discuss war in Ukraine, OSCE Chairpersonship challenges
Ohrid, 16 June 2022 (MIA) – Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani met Thursday with current OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau, as part of the Prespa Forum Dialogue. Talks focused on the security developments in the light of the Russian Federation's aggression against Ukraine and the challenges facing the chairperson-in-office in implementing the OSCE agenda. North Macedonia, which is to take over the OSCE Chairpersonship next year, together with Poland and Sweden, as part of the OSCE Troika, actively cooperate within this format, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release. Minister Osmani, reads the press release, reaffirmed the support of the Polish Chairpersonship for the active engagement in managing the crisis, relying on the available resources and mechanisms of OSCE. At the same time, he welcomed the efforts to move the agenda and activities forward within the Organization, underlining that Poland’s experience and lessons learned as chair, in extremely complex conditions, will be of great benefit to the country’s mission in 2023. “Our joint action as part of the Troika gives continuity to OSCE’s work, and is an additional value in respecting the basic principles and values of the Organization,” said Osmani. North Macedonia is to take over the Chairpersonship of this largest regional security organization on January 1, 2023. dk/nn/
