Osmani: Accelerating W. Balkans' Euro-Atlantic integration an important investment in regional and European stability
Skopje, 23 September 2022 (MIA) - Current challenges facing the transatlantic community with an accent on the consequences from the Russian military aggression against Ukraine, addressing the energy crisis, increasing the resilience of democracies, as well as the priorities for acting in transatlantic relations were in the focus of talks at the annual transatlantic dinner in New York, organized at the sidelines of the 77th UN General Assembly by Victoria Nuland, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs. Attending the event, Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani welcomed the unity of NATO allies in their unwavering support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine mentioning North Macedonia's series of steps and measures taken so far as a credible NATO member as a response to the Russian aggression. Also, Osmani stressed the importance of accelerating the Euro-Atlantic integration of the Western Balkan countries as an vital investment in both regional and European stability. "EU enlargement to include the Western Balkan countries is of special importance in providing stable and resilient region in the current uncertain geopolitical context. To maintain regional, European and transatlantic security NATO and US presence in our region should be strengthened," concluded FM Osmani.
