Osmani – Reinsalu: Estonia supports priorities of Macedonian OSCE Chairmanship

Skopje, 18 January 2023 (MIA) – Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani spoke Wednesday over the phone with Estonian counterpart Urmas Reinsalu, discussing Europe’s security architecture and management of current challenges, especially in light of North Macedonia’s OSCE Chairmanship and the efforts to put an end to the war in Ukraine.

FM Osmani spoke about his visit to Kyiv and his impressions from the meetings with the Ukrainian leadership, pointing out that this country’s OSCE chairmanship will prioritize Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

“Faced with the consequences of the military aggression against a sovereign and independent European country, we remain committed to the implementation of OSCE’s values and principles, as well as a unified approach in dealing with the consequences of the war that we’re suffering,” Osmani said.

The ministers reaffirmed their joint commitment to the spirit and text of the OSCE Declaration.

Minister Reinsalu reiterated Estonia’s consistent support to North Macedonia’s European integration process, encouraging the state to continue down the path of reforms so that the citizens can reap the benefits.

Interlocutors also discussed the positive trend of bilateral relations and deepening cooperation between both countries, especially in terms of digitization, using Estonia’s experiences to modernize the digitization of North Macedonia’s society, which was confirmed during FM Osmani’s visit to Estonia in November 2022. dk/ik/
