OSCE/ODIHR to announce preliminary findings after Wednesday's presidential elections

Skopje, 25 April 2024 (MIA) – OSCE/ODHIR observers at a news conference Thursday at 3 pm will present preliminary findings and conclusions after monitoring the April 24 first round of the presidential elections.

Head of Mission Jillian Stirk after visiting several polling stations yesterday told reporters that the start of the voting process was initially good, however, a final assessment of how the process was unfolding could be drawn once all data were gathered at the end of the day.

"Collectively we’re assessing the entire electoral process from the legal framework to election administration issues like campaign finance and of course the role of the media. Tomorrow we’ll present our initial findings, we’ll be holding a press conference, you’re all very welcome to join us there and there will be an opportunity for questions after our short statement which I will make as well as our parliamentary partners from the Council of Europe," Stirk said.

OSCE/ODHIR has been monitoring the presidential elections with over 200 observers deployed across the country, as well as long-term observers, who have been in the country since late March, when the mission was opened. They observe the elections in North Macedonia to assess them according to international obligations and the national legislation.
