Ophthalmology Clinic gets state-of-the-art microscope

Skopje, 16 September 2024 (MIA) – The Skopje-based University Clinic for Eye Diseases was equipped Monday with a surgical microscope that will enable the implementation of new, state-of-the-art procedures with the highest level of precision.

As Health Minister Arben Taravari noted, this device is essential for the functioning of contemporary ophthalmology.

“With this microscope, we can treat both the front and back segments of the eye. We are moving forward with enhanced treatment and better healthcare services,” he said.

According to Taravari, there are trained personnel who know how to use the microscope and will use it extensively.

“It is anticipated that approximately 200 operations per month will be performed with the new microscope, or around 2,000 annually,” he noted.

At present, as he evaluated, the Clinic for Eye Diseases is well-equipped, though there is always a need for more equipment.

During the microscope’s promotion, it was highlighted that the Clinic currently has three fully equipped surgical rooms. In the near future, the focus will be on advancing the surgical and diagnostic procedures that have already been implemented.
