Ohrid's Beach Film Festival closes with awards ceremony
Skopje, 26 July 2022 (MIA) – The films BITCH, Derogatory Term for a Woman, directed by Tijana Zijanic, and Mar Infinito (Endless Sea), directed by Carlos Amaral, won the Big Wave Award for best film at this year’s edition of Beach Film Festival, held from July 20-24 in Ohrid.
Sisters directed by Kukla Keserovic got the Small Wave Award for best short film.
Anaïs Demoustier won the Best Actress Award, named in honor of Skopje professor and cinephile Stefan Sidovski Sido, for her performance in Anais in Love. The Special Mention Award for best short student film selected by the audience each year went to Freedom by Joanna Rosniak.
This year’s edition of the festival was held in four locations: Slavia Beach, the St. Sophia Church courtyard, Lapidarium and the Armada ship, and the audience had the opportunity to enjoy over 40 films.
The jury panel consisting of German director/cinematographer Fred Kelemen, director Srdjam Dragojevic and director Caveh Zahedi chose the awarded films on the last day of the festival, at Slavia Beach.
“The festival this year brought film projections to unique locations under the stars, creative meets of movie pros and film lovers, and hanging out in the relaxed atmosphere of the city of Ohrid,” the festival organizers said. dk/ba/
