Skopje, 24 January 2023 (MIA) – Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Naser Nuredini and Albanian Ambassador Fatos Reka discussed Tuesday the reaffirmation of cooperation in regards to sustainable management of water resources.

Both sides are prepared to intensify negotiations regarding the draft agreement for management of cross-border water resources, and there is will to draft a new text as soon as possible and set up a joint Macedonian-Albanian commission consisting of representatives of competent sectors and water experts that would compile a joint draft text together, the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning said in a press release.

Minister Nuredini and Ambassador Reka also discussed the opportunities for a mutual approach in overcoming the challenges they face in securing sustainable green development in both countries. They also discussed cooperation in other areas and reflected on the reasons behind air pollution. especially in winter during the heating season.

Interlocutors also discussed the intensification of cooperation between both countries for sustainable natural resource management in cross-border protected areas, reads the press release. dk/ik/
