Skopje, 3 October 2022 (MIA) – Considering the energy crisis, air pollution will most probably reach higher levels, said Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Naser Nuredini on Monday. Minister Nuredini urged citizens to avoid using environment-polluting materials when heating their homes. “We will import mazut and coal and the least we ask is observance of the standards for these resources. We are aware that institutions – hospitals, kindergartens, schools etc – are the largest polluters and air pollution will most probably reach higher levels this winter,” said Nuredini. Unfortunately, he added, the problem lies in the fact that the country has not invested in the energy sector over the past 30 years. “I am aware these are difficult times, but urge everyone to be aware of what we use for heating, how much, and how we can be more energy-efficient,” said Nuredini.
