North Macedonia to export sunflower oil to Albania as of Tuesday
Tirana, 9 May 2022 (MIA) – Albanian Finance Minister Delina Ibrahimaj during Monday's joint press conference with the Macedonian Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi said that the import of sunflower oil from North Macedonia will start on Tuesday, which was earlier mainly imported from Ukraine.
“On Tuesday, the Republic of North Macedonia will make an important decision to start exporting sunflower oil to Albania, product which was earlier mainly imported from Ukraine. We felt sunflower oil shortage as in the international markets, which is why the prices are higher. I want to thank Minister Bekteshi for the constructive talks and I want to guarantee that relations between the two countries in the field of trade will continue to be very good,” Ibrahimaj said.
She noted that easing of all procedures within ‘Open Balkan’ initiative will continue.
Due to shortage of cooking oil in Albania, which costs EUR 3.1 a liter, many Albanian citizens from the border regions with North Macedonia are buying cooking oil from Debar, Struga, Ohrid and Resen.
