North Macedonia joins UN’s Blue Heart Campaign
Skopje, 8 July 2021 (MIA) – North Macedonia has joined the United Nations’ Blue Heart Campaign, which aims to raise awareness over the issues and suffering of human trafficking victims, Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski posted Thursday on Facebook.
He added that on Thursday he addressed a meeting of the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and Illegal Migration, which was also attended by the regional coordinator of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Bill Wood.
“As a signatory party of the United Nations’ Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, North Macedonia is continuously making efforts to strengthen capacities and exchange experiences through participation at international forums, to achieve efficient results in the fight against human trafficking. By joining this global campaign, North Macedonia has the opportunity to take part in global activities for prevention, raising awareness, interconnectivity, exchange of experiences, etc., with the aim of combating human trafficking together,” read Spasovski’s post.
Moreover, the Minister added that North Macedonia will continue to create policies, look for new ways to be more successful and take actions, with the single goal of improving efficiency in identifying victims, prosecuting perpetrators and ensuring improved assistance and protection.
