North Macedonia embassy in Athens in contact with Greek authorities after arrests
Skopje, 8 July 2022 (MIA) - North Macedonia's embassy to Greece has been in communication with officials of relevant institutions in the Greek island of Mykonos where three citizens of North Macedonia have been arrested on drug trafficking charges, the Foreign Ministry said Friday. The Ministry in the press release revealed the suspects' initials as O.P, G.P, and N.T.. "The embassy remains in contact with the official authorities, which are yet to send an official written confirmation of the details of the case," said the press release. Earlier today, MIA reported that three nationals of North Macedonia, two men aged 34 and 35 and a 21-year-old woman, were arrested this past Wednesday on suspicion of trafficking drugs. Greek police said that after a thorough investigation, the core of the network of foreign nationals has been busted that sold drugs in Mykonos, adding it seized 437 ecstasy pills, 219.8 grams of cocaine, 270.9 grams of methamphetamine and 155.7 grams of cannabis. The arrested nationals were organized in a criminal group with each one having a role. A Libyan national was also arrested while buying drugs. Greek police, which launched an operation to bust the criminal gang, also seized three mobile phones, 2,370 euros and a motorcycle which which the drugs was transported, MIA reported from Athens.
