Skopje, 16 November 2023 (MIA) - International transport of 85kg of marijuana has been thwarted and four persons have been arrested, whereas Greece has issued an arrest warrant for a Greek national, after a coordinated operation by the countries' police services.

On Wednesday, police officers followed a tractor and a motorcycle at Belasica mountain, en route to the Greek border. Suspecting a drug trafficking operation, the police sector for illicit trafficking in narcotics, weapons and hazardous materials communicated with the Greece counterpart institution, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.

As a result of the joint activities, the Kilkis police service stopped a vehicle with Greek register plates in which it found and seized 54 bags containing 85kg of marijuana.

In addition, the Strumica police sector identified and detained four persons from Strumica, aged 29, 33, 34 and 38, who will be charged accordingly.
