NOB to stage 'Lucia di Lammermoor' with Durlovski in lead

Skopje, 11 December 2024 (MIA) — The National Opera and Ballet's prima donna Ana Durlovski will play the lead in the bel canto opera "Lucia di Lammermoor" by the 19th-century Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti, the NOB said in a press release. The opera begins at 8 pm.
According to the release, "this psychologically fascinating opera" will be conducted by Scottish-Italian orchestral conductor Dario Salvi.
The opera is directed by Italian stage director Lev Pugliese, who also designed the set. The costume designer is Marija Pupuchevska. The concertmaster is Jane Bakevski, and the choirmasters are Gjurgjica Dashikj and Jasmina Gjorgjeska.
Alongside Durlovski as Lucia di Lammermoor, the cast includes Marjan Jovanoski, Gjorgji Cuckovski, Nikola Stojcheski, Aleksandar Stefanoski, Marika Popovikj and Jane Dunimagloski, accompanied by the NOB choir and orchestra.
"Lucia di Lammermoor," which Donizetti wrote in 1835, is a tragic opera about an innocent woman manipulated by the men in her life.
Salvadore Cammarano wrote the libretto based on Sir Walter Scott's 1819 historical novel "The Bride of Lammermoor." Inspired by a true story, it is set in Lammermoor, in Scotland, in 1669. mr/
