Skopje, 10 January 2024 (MIA) - Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski failed to respond Wednesday on when he would meet with VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski regarding the caretaker government.
"Considering my resignation, it will be submitted within the legal timeframe, by the end of the week after next. The Parliament communicated yesterday the timeline for the vote for the caretaker government. Therefore, everything will be conducted in line with the law," PM Kovachevski told reporters.
He said a meeting with VMRO-DPMNE will take place, focusing on the preparation for the electoral process.
"The caretaker government is defined by law. SDSM has presented its candidates for this government, VMRO-DPMNE will probably do the same, then we go to the Parliament and vote, followed by elections," said Kovachevski.
The PM added that SDSM is discussing a joint bid with all coalition partners for the coming elections, but talks are currently tackling programmes and vision for the country, not details related to MP candidate lists.
The session for election of the caretaker government is set to take place on January 27-28, with the PM resigning in the week before. Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi will also resign from the post due to his nomination as caretaker PM, with SDSM MP Jovan Mitreski nominated as his successor.
