Skopje, 26 August 2022 (MIA) — Members of Parliament from the VMRO-DPMNE party will vote against the proposed amendments to the Constitution and these will "fall through" in Parliament, the party's vice president Aleksandar Nikoloski told Kanal 5 TV.
He asked the government to submit the proposal to a parliamentary vote “to see they don’t have the support of VMRO-DPMNE MPs.”
“The proposed constitutional amendments will fall through in Parliament and after that we go to early parliamentary elections, because the government has been delegitimized and in no way can this coalition of SDSM and DUI remain in power,” Nikoloski said.
He added that a snap election "should happen so the people can voice their own opinion."
According to him, VMRO-DPMNE has not given up on taking the French proposal to a public vote.
“We said that at the end of this month and at the beginning of September we will come up with specific positions regarding the issue and how this referendum would be held,” Nikoloski said. mr/
