Skopje, 22 October 2024 (MIA) - We have an ambitious agenda for development of the road and railway infrastructure and these projects are set to strengthen the Corridor X's competitive position, restoring the region's importance in the European transport of commodities and passengers, said Deputy PM and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski during a meeting with Greek Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Christos Staikouras in Thessaloniki on Tuesday.
Minister Nikoloski said the Government is committed to the project of building a fast rail along Corridor 10 that would speed up transport from the Greek ports to Central Europe and vice versa, the Ministry of Transport said in a press release.
"This project of regional significance is of enormous interest for all countries and we should jointly realize it," said Nikoloski.
In this context, he also opened the issue of a railway link near Bitola due to the need for faster connection in the Pelagonija region and an alternative route with the ports.
Nikoloski also referred to the topic of a joint tag for toll payment in both countries, upon the model that is beneficial for Macedonian and Serbian citizens.
