Skopje, 11 September 2025 (MIA) - The EU entry/exit system will begin to be implemented gradually from October 12. This measure is being introduced to strengthen security at all EU entry points. It will be gradual, but will also facilitate the process of entering the EU, EU Ambassador Michalis Rokas said Thursday.

In practice, as Rokas explained, this means that third-country nationals will need to register once with fingerprints and photos, but once this is done, future entries can use the automated entry systems at airports, and so on.
Rokas further stressed that ETIAS is a separate system and should not be confused with the EU entry/exit system, and that timely information will be provided regarding its implementation.
