Netanyahu thanks US for 'important ammunition' for Gaza war

Tel Aviv, 10 December 2023 (dpa/MIA) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the United States has provided Israel with "important ammunition" for a continuation of the Gaza war.

At the beginning of a Cabinet meeting in Jerusalem, Netanyahu thanked US President Joe Biden for the military aid and the US veto in the UN Security Council of a resolution calling for a ceasefire.

Netanyahu did not specify which arms deliveries he was referring to.

Netanyahu said that he had also spoken to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron.

"I told them that you can't support the destruction of Hamas on the one hand and put pressure on us to end the war on the other, which will prevent the destruction of Hamas."

Netanyahu said that the war "will continue with greater intensity, in the north and south of the Gaza Strip, in order to achieve all its goals."

These are the destruction of Hamas, the return of all hostages and ensuring that the Gaza Strip can no longer pose a threat to Israel.
