National Opera and Ballet opens new season with Mozart's Requiem

Skopje, 3 October 2025 (MIA) — The National Opera and Ballet opens its 2025-26 season Friday evening with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Requiem in D Minor, K. 626.

"One of the most powerful and emotional masterpieces in the history of classical music, Mozart's Requiem is his last and unfinished work," the NOB said, noting that the piece was filled with dramatic contrasts, "from quiet prayerful moments to explosive choral scenes" and that it "has fascinated and inspired audiences around the world for over two centuries."

The NOB performance of Mozart's Requiem will feature soprano Biljana Josifov, mezzosoprano Nikolina Janevska, tenor Jane Dunimagloski and bass Vladimir Sazdovski as soloists.

"Under the baton of the distinguished Italian conductor Gianluca Martinenghi, the Macedonian audience will have the opportunity to attend an extraordinary performance of a work that reveals Mozart's genius, depth and spiritual power," the NOB said. mr/
