National Gallery mounts Emil Shulajkovski solo show of abstractions

Skopje, 1 October 2024 (MIA) -- A solo show of abstractions by Emil Shulajkovski, titled "Shadows in the Clouds," will open at the National Gallery's Chifte Amam gallery at 8 pm.

The exhibition consists of oils on canvas, acrylics on canvas, and watercolors on paper painted between 2019 and 2024, organizers said in a press release.

The paintings will be on display as five series, each under a separate title: "Garden of Pleasures" (2019-2023), "Transformation of Symbols" (2023), "Momentary Reflections" (2023-2024), "Wind in the Thoughts" (2023-2024), and "Shadows in the Clouds" (2023-2024).

The art show was curated by Maja Chankulovska Mihajlovska. It will run through Oct. 20.

According to the National Gallery in its press release, Shulajkovski blends expresionist strokes of color with lyrical abstraction in creating dynamic visual shapes based on a pantheistic philosophy of life and art. "Shadows in the Clouds" marks the 30th anniversary of his career.
