Skopje, 27 September 2024 (MIA) — National Bank governor Anita Angelovska Bezhoska and State Statistical Office director Dejan Stankov signed a new cooperation agreement on Friday, expanding the scope of exchanged information, modernizing information exchange methods, and shortening deadlines for submitting information, the central bank said in a press release.

The aim of the agreement is to meet the statistical requirements of European and international institutions and prepare quality, reliable and timely statistical data, the release said.

"Quality statistics are crucial for the process of good decision-making and for conducting sound economic policies," the Central Bank said, highlighting the importance of a functional statistical system and institutional cooperation both for the public and the private sector. 

The cooperation between the central bank and the SSO will further improve the domestic statistical system, which meets the highest statistical standard for data dissemination, the International Monetary Fund's Dissemination Standards Bulletin Board SDDS Plus, the release said.

Angelovska Bezhoska and Stankov confirmed that the national statistical system was is in accordance with the latest European and international standards. mr/
