MWA to elect president on June 1; five candidates competing for role

Skopje, 28 May 2024 (MIA) — The Macedonian Writers Association has scheduled its regular election assembly for June 1, when MWA members are set to vote on a new Statute, president, managing board and a court of honor, MWA said in a press release.
According to the release, five MWA members have placed their bids for the role of president: Zhivko Grozdanoski, Vesna Damchevska Ilievska, Jordan Gjorchev, Mirce Neshovski and Jugoslav Petrovski. They are competing for the most votes from members present at the election assembly in person.
"The current management board (Zoran Anchevski, vice president, and members: Vesna Mojsova-Chepishevska, Liljana Pandeva, Branko Cvetkoski, Aleksandra Jurukovska, Marina Mijakovska and Vladimir Martinovski) at a May 27, 2024, meeting verified and adopted the submitted bids as well as the updated registry of active members, which consists of 108 members," the release says.
Meeting participants also made a decision to change the MWA Statute from 2011. The amended statute would enter into force immediately after its adoption by the assembly.
The release also urges all MWA active members to participate in the assembly and elect new MWA leadership "to ensure the country's oldest and most important writers association continues to exist." mr/
