Murtezani in Kyiv: North Macedonia supports solutions for peace and stability through joint efforts with strategic partners

Skopje, 19 January 2025 (MIA) - As part of his working visit to Ukraine, Minister of European Affairs Orhan Murtezani held several meetings reaffirming North Macedonia's support to Ukraine's EU accession process. 

Minister Murtezani highlighted North Macedonia's full alignment with the EU's common foreign and security policy, as a basis for the country's strategic orientation towards global security challenges, the Ministry of European Affairs said in a press release.

Murtezani noted that in order to strengthen its role as a responsible and constructive partner on the international stage, North Macedonia, in the context of its commitment to the European integration process, will continue to actively support the efforts of the European Union and NATO members to peacefully resolve the conflict in Ukraine, promote stability and actively participate in global initiatives to enhance security in the region.

In terms of current geopolitical developments and new challenges arising from the Russian military invasion against Ukraine, Murtezani said the as NATO member, North Macedonia will be aligning its position with the strategies and decisions made by the Alliance. 

"We condemn Russian aggression and fully support Ukrainian leaders in their efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region together with our common strategic partners. In close cooperation with our NATO allies, we will continue to advocate for a lasting solution that will bring an end to the war and ensure long-term peace. The Republic of North Macedonia remains committed to processes that will lead to stability, supporting the Ukrainian people in their struggle for freedom and security," said Minister Murtezani.
