Murtezani, Dhuka discuss possibilities to coordinate Reform Agendas for joint breakthrough on European path

Skopje, 11 November 2024 (MIA) - Minister of European Affairs Orhan Murtezani wrapped up his working visit to Tirana with a meeting with the Minister of State and Albania's Chief EU Negotiator, Majlinda Dhuka.

Talks focused on ongoing activities in the European integration process of the two countries in terms of the EC's Growth Plan and the Reform Agendas of the two countries, the status of the negotiating structures for both the accession negotiations and the Reform Agenda, as well as possibilities for joint bilateral and regional EU projects, the Ministry of European Affairs said in a press release.

"Murtezani and Dhuka agreed that exchange of experiences and expertise between the two countries in key reform areas, such as the rule of law and the fight against corruption, would be extremely useful for everyone involved in the European integration process. Participants in the meeting also discussed possibilities for coordination of the Reform Agendas through a common, unified and adapted approach to EU priorities. The interlocutors agreed that through such cooperation, the countries will increase the efficiency of reforms and promote regional integration," reads the press release.

The Ministers, it adds, also explored possibilities for mutual support in joint regional projects, where both parties can identify and support joint projects that are complementary to EU goals and strengthen regional cooperation.

"Murtezani and Dhuka, as the Chief EU Negotiators for North Macedonia and Albania, respectively, agreed to cooperate closely in securing funding from European funds, as well as in promoting such projects as a demonstration of the common commitment to European integration," said the Ministry of European Affairs.

The Ministers also exchanged views on bilateral coordination of the negotiating structures for the EU and the Reform Agenda.

"Murtezani and Dhuka highlighted focus on strengthening the capacities and ensuring that the negotiating teams for both countries are well-prepared to meet the requirements for membership in the Union," the press release reads.
