Kriva Palanka, 25 July 2024 (MIA) – “Giga Fest”, a multimedia alternative festival paying tribute to the late Kriva Palanka-based director Gligor Cvetkovski, opened Wednesday evening at Kriva Palanka’s Culture Center with a performance of the play “Candy”.
“Candy”, an independent theatre production, was written by Australian writer Luke Davies and adapted for the stage by Tamara Stojanoska, who also directed the play. It stars Leo Popovikj and Boban Aleksoski.
“Here, the independent scene is struggling to survive facing finances and spaces for rehearsing among other things. Artists working in the theatre need the freedom the alternative scene offers all the while offering themes that might not be for everyone. One such theme is “Candy”, which describes drug addiction of two young people,” stated Stojanoska adding that the play is an anatomy of love between two people who are drug addicts.
“Giga Fest 2024” is part of the program of the Kriva Palanka Summer of Culture and the Kriva Palanka – City of Culture event.
The three-day festival closes on July 31 with the screening of the music documentary “The Hip – Brainstorm”, directed by Jane Altiparmakov.
