Mucunski takes part in Taormina event marking 70th anniversary of Messina Conference

Skopje, 19 June 2025 (MIA) - At the invitation of the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski addressed a ministerial conference marking the 70th anniversary of the Messina Conference, held in Taormina, Italy. 

In his address, Minister Mucunski has pointed out that membership in the Union is a generational investment and the most ambitious transformation project for the country, strengthening democracy, economic growth and social resilience.  

"I reaffirmed the country's firm commitment to speeding up the European integration process, in accordance with clearly defined criteria and standards, highlighting the need for a predictable, fair and principled approach, free of bilateralization and identity concessions. I also underlined the importance of determination and European unity in the context of current geopolitical challenges, noting that European integration remains the only sustainable path to peace, prosperity and democratic progress for the countries in the region," Mucunski said in a Facebook post. 

A Joint Declaration was adopted as part of the two-day conference, reaffirming the strategic importance of the Union's enlargement as an instrument for stability, growth and cooperation on the continent and in its neighbourhood.
