Mucunski takes part in ministerial meeting of U.S.–Adriatic Charter (A5)

Skopje, 24 September 2025 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski participated in a ministerial meeting of the U.S.–Adriatic Charter (A5), held on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday.

Mucunski highlighted the crucial role of the United States and the support it has provided for this regional initiative for more than two decades, MIA reports from New York. He noted that continuing the support is of key importance in strengthening security, stability and prosperity in the region.

He pointed out that it is necessary to constantly respond to challenges and jointly find the most effective solutions, calling for enhanced and pragmatic regional cooperation.

"Alignment with NATO and EU policies and priorities will prepare the region for future integration and foster economic development, democratic resilience, and stronger social cohesion," Mucunski said at the meeting.

The forming of the U.S.-Adriatic Charter was signed in 2003, which in addition to the United States as a patron, the Republic of North Macedonia, Albania and Croatia committed to develop the regional cooperation in the field of defence through an institutional framework. In 2008, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro joined the initiative, and Serbia, Kosovo and Slovenia have a status of observer.
